Hey Everybody!

It has been a while since I have reported. Shortly after my last updated we had 4 groups come in one after the other, filling our November with much activity. I am finally getting a chance to get settled and let you know what has been going on here at Caring Hearts.

The first group that came in was the Sames Family from Pennsylvania, for a short trip. They blessed our children with their presence and love. Kerrianne as been a faithful supporter in many ways, and this was a time for her family to learn why she loves Caring Hearts so much. They spent time with the children of Bethel and Oasis.

Shortly after, our next group came in from Walnut Grove Assembly of God, Pittsburgh PA. Leaders Bob and Lori lead a fine group in the construction of a house for Bethel worker Minerva, and they also spent time with the kids, shut ins and garbage dump workers. The day Walnut Grove left, the first of two groups from St. Ferdinands in Cranberry PA arrived. They did some painting at the Kino school, spent quality time with the kids at Oasis and Bethel, visited shut ins, the soup kitchen and the dump. The next St. Ferdinand´s group dedicated their time to finishing Minerva´s house, helping with another shut ins home and some tile work at Kino. They also visited shut ins, the dump and spent time at Bethel and Oasis.

Now we are gearing up for our Caring Hearts Christmas. We have a special prayer need. The Mexican Customs has a new administrator, and he has been very difficult when it comes to giving permits to bring in donations duty free. Many locals from Arizona and Caring Hearts Sponsors want to bless San Luis, but we are having a hard time getting things across freely. Please pray that God will open up the Heart of Mr. Vargas so we can help folks like you bless the people. KNOWLEDGE FAIR

Ephesians 5:1-2

“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in

the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a

fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If you really like someone you tend to, at least in some small way, emulate them; you want to be like them. Down through the decades I can remember the fads and fashions inspired by celebrities and other people in the public eye.

We all have old pictures of ourselves with hair styles and clothing that make us cringe when we see them. Why? Because they have gone out of style and that which once looked cool and contemporary now looks ridiculous. You never have to worry about that if the one you are imitating is Jesus. Of course it’s not a physical similarity that we’re called to have. God doesn’t expect us to grown long hair and a beard and wear a robe and sandals. It is a replication of character, a conforming to a standard no other human has ever displayed. If you are going to reflect Christ you have to “Live a life of Love”, not a life of selfishness, greed, anger or ignorance. Jesus showed the love of God in everything He did and every word He spoke. What greater love could a person have than to offer His life as a sacrifice to God?

When you serve through Caring Hearts, whether you are feeding hungry people in the villages, or caring for children at the orphanage, singing, preaching or building, you offer yourself to God and your deeds of kindness rise up to Him as a sweet fragrance. This month is the Medical Mission trip that brings healing to the soul as well as the body.

Please pray for all those going and serving and for those poor souls in pain waiting for a healing in their life. As you do, imagine God taking a deep breath inhaling the sweet aroma of the offerings being made.

GOAL BALL

The folks from the blind center are learning a sport for the blind called goal ball. It consisted of bowling a bell filled medicine ball at three players on the other side of a basket ball court. They must listen and dive to stop the ball. Here are some pictures from a recent practice. They are planning a national tournament right here in San Luis next month.

MEDICAL CLINIC REPORT

October 5-10 we held our annual medical clinic. We were in two locations each day and provided medical, dental, chiropractic and optical care. We also preached the gospel to each person who went through the clinic and gave out food and New Testaments. This year we saw 3,740 patients and gave out 4912 different treatments. Praise the Lord, we registered 498 salvations. God moved in many ways and the people of San Luis were blessed.

SEBASTIAN REGISTERED

After 11 years of waiting, Sebastian was finally registered thanks to the work of Ines, Adalberto and the folks at Social Services. His parents showed no interest in doing this simple procedure, and we had tried different channels till we finally found a way to legitimately make him a Mexican. So meet Sebastian Montoya Balderas, 11 year old Mexican from San Luis Rio Colorado.

OASIS BOYS - CABINET MAKERS!

This summer I threw down the gauntlet for Pedro and the boys...build some cabinets for Marcelo. They took up the challenge and successfully completed and hung the cabinets. Here are some pictures of the finished work.

They are now working on a new sink for the group kitchen bathroom. We thank God that Pedro and the boys have learned carpentry and have added that to their list of skills that will help them in the future.

God is working and moving in mighty ways! What a privilege and an honor to be included in this ministry. This week, I learned more than ever that once you’re a Christian, this life is not about us. It is about being used by God to reach a lost world for Jesus. He has bought us at a price, and what a joy it is to submit to being used by Him to be His hands and feet. If it is His will, I hope to return very soon. Soli Deo Gloria! – Brad

Kids Ministry during Movie Night.

This trip marks a declaration I have made to God. I desire to give Him everything. Every moment, Every breath. When we were traveling down here I realized that I was using this trip to run away from the mess that is my life at home. I felt so overwhelmed by all my problems. But this week, God shifted my focus. He used the many amazing experiences to touch my heart and make me realize that it is not about me… it is about Him. Seeing the lives of the people in San Luis and their hardship gave me a better perspective of the miniscule trials that I have in my own life. Through the empowering of Christ that I received here, I am eager to return and see God heal my life as I give it all to Him. – Brittany

I came down here excited to see everyone for my 5^th trip. I expected to know what we would be doing and have fun doing it. Unfortunately, I ended up with an ear infection making everything much more challenging. Regardless this was my favorite of my 5 trips and I’m blessed to have gotten to serve with such an awesome group of people. – Brittany

I came on this trip to conquer my fears of opening up what God has placed on my heart. Learning that is the attack of the enemy. I don’t have to worry about anyone judging me. We have al been there at least one time or another. Holding back when I may have something little to say and it could be a blessing somehow in a major way. I had no idea what o expect on this trip but I can tell you that I’ve shared, loved, matured and ultimately have grown close to the Lord. This is what it’s all about building His Kingdom. Visiting Shut Ins

This was my second time and I am yet again blown away by the amazing time I have had. God has shown me miraculous things I had been asking to see, salvations staying in the spirit and more. I have disappointed myself with not being fully free of fear in speaking to people but there was victory for me to share with the Rehab center and the women’s jail. I love the children with all my heart and the have a part of me here in San Luis. God bless the beautiful children of God from San Luis – Joanna

Everytime I am here, something new grabs my attention. This year it was shut-in ministry. These people are truly needy and benefit greatly from our visits. I’m not sure if they are gaining all the benefits, though, because I learn something about myself and how God prompts my heart with a leaning for His people. Of all the wonderful things Caring Hearts does in San Luis, the shut-ins is one of my favorite ministries. – Kay

I went to the drug rehab center with about 5 other people from our group. At the beginning of a testimony Mario asked to see the hands who were “forced” to come to listen to us speak. About 6-8 people raised their hands. After we all shared we asked those who wanted to accept Christ as their King to raise their hands and almost all of those who were “forced” to come raised their hands, along with about 20 other people. This showed me how awesome and powerful our God is. I saw 30 or more people come up and ask for prayer. It really blessed me and impacted me in a way that is hard to explain. RHODE ISLAND TESTIMONIES

Whew!!!! A long busy summer is coming to a close, in one week the kids will be back in school. I can finally get caught up with reports on this blog. Today we have some testimonies from our newest group from Victory Assembly of God in Providence, Rhode Island. Enjoy their pictures and thoughts on their time here.

Ministry on the East Side of Town.

This trip was more diverse than any I’ve been on. We came with open minds and open hearts, we went from place to place and not only was our first mission to bless the people of Mexico, but the people and especially the children of Mexico blessed us. We grew close with all of the kids and learn how to trust each other. I am really glad the trip wasn’t one aspect of missions, but it was diverse and that made it special. –Phil

Ministry in the Dump

This missions trip to Mexico was the best trip I went on out Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The children became so attached to us and I smiled every second I was with them. One of the best moments on the missions trip was the men’s rehab. When we went these couple of them shared their testimonies. Vicente was one of the men who shared. He wanted to open another rehab center around the area. Another highlight of the trip is when Adalberto shared his testimony with the team. His testimony made me very very thankful of what I have back home and all my parents do for me. –Brenny

This missions trip was a blessing because it was different from the other missions trip I have been on. The difference was the kids and I really liked that factor because we blessed the children so much with our ministry that they clinged to us as if we were family. But I have come to realize that we all are family and helping our brothers and sisters come to know the Lord and encouraging them to like the Christian life should be done every day and that is why I am thankful for this opportunity to do missions. I loved the smiles and seeing the joy in them. Those actions had told me that we have done God’s will. – Brian

Praying in the Streets

Coming to Bethel was an awesome experience for me. I felt that all the places we were taken made a difference in my life. The opportunity to pray for people and meet them was a blessing. Just to be able to love on the kids and receive love from them gave me more of God’s compassion for those who are hurting. The staff blessed us with their testimonies and gave me a bigger measure of faith to keep on going. – Rosamy

I will try to be brief. There is so much to give Glory to God for. I work in full time ministry. I am a licensed minister with the A/G. I work with drug addicts, with families in crisis. I got very comfortable in my routine, and during this time, my vision expanded and my heart melted before God, For He is a consuming fire. Never cried so much in a week, since I have been with Caring Hearts, God has truly blessed me, by giving me much of His heart, compassion and urgency to continue to pour out my life for His Kingdom. I love the people here, Ken, Juana, Isabella, Adalberto, Marcelo, and of course the Niños. I thank God for the encouragement they give to me, just by sharing their lives. I am very excited to bring a team back here from Teen Challenge, praying will be a blessing to this ministry. – Tabatha

When we went to the shut-ins I really liked the whole concept of the ministry. It felt good knowing we went out of our way to go to them. One of the woman, she had breast cancer, I specially felt like she really was touched. I was able to pray for her in English, and by the end she was crying and we hadn’t even translated it. To me, that goes to show how God’s power presence is not hindered by any language barrier. – Hanna

Typically at home I’m very involved in children’s ministry. But I was very blessed to come here and have the opportunity to be involved in so much more. I was particularly blessed at the woman’s rehab center. After performing a skit my team and I prepared, a woman approached one of our team members and with tears in her eyes told us that she had personally done that drama 5 times but now she finally understood what it meant. Being out of my element (at the rehab center doing the drama) was definitely a stretching experience that truly blessed me!! Thanks Caring Hearts – Rebecca

I really would like to thank God for letting me have a first missions experience like I had there with Caring Hearts. God is definitely here and his presence fills this place daily. One experience I really enjoyed was the last Church service we had here at Bethel. God spoke to me by sending a messenger to tell me to continue to do great things because He is expected to do great things in my life. I love the kids, love the atmosphere and love the food! Would like to thank everyone at Caring Hearts and Bethel for a well done first missions trip for me. Never going to forget what a blessing it was waking up and hearing the sounds of the kids laughing and playing. Great memory and I pray God bless you all abundantly. – Brittany

Ministry in the Rehab Center

Where do I begin: The first Church service where one of the children, Danielito climbed up on my lap and fell asleep. He woke my heart. But I guess it would have to be at the Men’s rehab when we gathered in backyard and shared testimonies and scriptures and after sharing a passage of Scripture one of the men gave testimony and said how the Word confirmed what God had been speaking to him. We had a time of prayer and the power of God was so powerful! The next night a few of them came to service at Bethel. The last day we dropped off some package and said how blessed they were to see us and hear the Word of the Lord. It was just a God thing all the way! A SPECIAL TESTIMONY

Here is a testimony from one of the members of the Cornerstone Group, it will touch your heart.

I would like to tell you a brief story about my experience at Caring Hearts Mission. Our group was involved in so much that it is difficult to condense my adventure to a brief testimony, however I will do my best. One of the first encounters with Caring Hearts was our introduction/orientation meeting. I was able to get an understanding of all that Caring Hearts does for the people of San Luis. The different ministries were amazing, I was hoping that I would have an opportunity to experience each one while I was visiting, and that is what happened. From visiting and taking food to the shut ins, to visiting and taking food and supplies to the homeless at the city dump, to visiting the drug rehabs, to visiting the nursing

home, to visiting the blind center (built by Caring Hearts), to visiting the boys home (also built by Caring Hearts), to visiting the city orphanage, to doing street ministry, to visiting and speaking at a local church, to putting on a Vacation Bible School for the local children and the children of the Bethel Orphanage, to doing physical work painting buildings at the

mission and at a near by school, and last but most important spending time interacting and playing with the children of the Bethel Orphanage getting to know them.

When I first heard about the Mission Trip my church was organizing I wanted to get involved. Our high school 9th and 10th grade students under the direction of our youth pastor were going to the Caring Hearts Mission in Mexico. I thought that it would be a blessing to see how God would change the hearts of the students that would be going to San

Luis. Well to tell you the truth, God wanted to touch me as well. I came to minister to the people of San Luis and God ministered to me. I believed that I would come back home with an appreciation for what I had. I was wrong, I actually was ashamed, I was ashamed that I had so much and that I had focused so much on achievement and success and things.

I saw faith in the eyes and actions of the christian people of San Luis. I saw how much I have relied on convenience and not on faith in God to lead my life. I was ashamed that I had put God in my back pocket to bring out when I needed Him.I saw real love. unconditional love, when we were at the city dump ministering to the homeless, as the students were speaking

I looked around at the homeless men and women listening to the students speak. I noticed a man and woman sitting on the tailgate of a pickup with another couple obviously their friends and I saw the man put his arm around his partner, and as he did this I recognized something. She didn't push his hand away as if to say I blame you for all this, you are a looser you need to get a job so you can get us out of this situation. No she didn't do that she reached up and graded his hand and squeezed it and he leaned over and kissed her. I believe I was supposed to see that embrace and that kiss, to show me what unconditional

love is have, what I need to have, unconditional love for the people in my life my children and my spouse. I was changed by my experience at the Caring Hearts Mission, by what they do, how they give, and how they love. God changed me into a man of faith and of love, Thank you Lord for allowing me the privilege to be a part of your love and a part of your work at The Caring Hearts Mission in San Luis Mexico.

Proverbs 30:7-9

"I ask two things from you Lord. Don't refuse me before I die. Keep me from lying and being dishonest. and don't make me either rich or poor; just give me enough food for each day. If I have to much, I might reject you and say 'I don't know the Lord.' If I am poor, I might steal and disgrace the name of God."

ODDS AND ENDS

Hey Caring Hearts Friends!

Just checking in with some odds and ends. We have been going through May getting ready for a busy, hot summer, and wanted to share some things that have been going on.

In the third week of May we had a small group of 5 from Indiana Pennsylvania, who had a great time with the kids and also insulated the missionary apartment. It feels cooler already! We want to thank Tim, Sandy, Lonnie, Deanna and Karen for blessing Caring Hearts. Here are some pictures:

It is the end of the school year and that means special projects. The junior kids from both Oasis and Bethel work together to prepare as well as the elementary kids. Here are some pics of the kids at work

Like mother like daughter, Kendi has been teaching some of the kids English! She has a blast helping them out with this new language for them.

Please pray for us as we begin a busy summer with a visit from our director Papa Harold and his family as well as a group of 50 from Pennsylvania. What a blessing!

GOODBYE TO LAZARA

Last Friday, after over 5 years living here, Lazara decided to leave the orphanage. She is 19 and wants to have a change in her life, and having gone through that time ourselves we can understand her, though it is hard to see her leave. Lazara came to us a very troubled girl, and I believe that the love of God shown through Mama Bertha, Maestra Juana and all the groups that came through helped Lazara establish herself and have a new outlook on life. We took her to a women's shelter run by a local church so she can be in a safe place as she gets used to living away from Bethel. Pastor Mariano and his wife Mari assure us she will be safe and they will get her involved in a number of activities so she will not get bored. As long as she is there we will be able to have contact with her and we can still deliver cards and gifts as well. I am hoping to invite her to come with the groups on different ministry activities as well. Please pray for her as she goes through this transition, that she will make wise, Godly decisions. We will all miss Lazara, but are trusting that she is in God's hands and that he has great plans for her.

A SPECIAL FRIEND AT OASIS

I want to share a testimony with you about a young man named Abraham. He attends the Kino school with the Oasis boys. He lives with his single mother. The boys reached out to him and became his friend, and he started ¨hanging out¨ with them, attending church and other activities, as well as spending time at the home. He has responded to the gospel always looks to involve himself in the services. He and his mother have also been generous and helped the boys. This week they bought new shoes for them. It is amazing to see the testimony of the boys as they share the love they have learned, and this young man´s life has been changed. Glory to God!

QUINCINERA

Another one of our young ladies celebrated her 15th birthday last month. In Mexico, a girls 15th birthday is celebrated with great fanfare, with a coming out "fiesta". Juana, Angelica and Sarai organized a nice party for Laura Reyes. Laura is an excellent student and likes to play basketball and volleyball. She has been at the orphanage with her brothers and sisters for 6 years. Please pray for her. Here are some pictures:

COMPUTER TRAINING

At Caring Hearts, it is our desire to do all we can to help our children get a head start in life. We have had computer classes now for the kids for over a year, and we have seen great results from our adolescents. They know how to us all of the office programs and also how to type. Now we are starting with the younger children, so they too can familiarize themselves with this vital tool. Here are some pictures of our 1st grade girls learning how to use Microsoft Paint.

MESSAGE FROM PASTOR GARY

“If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied”

1 Cor. 15:19

We just celebrated Easter, the holiday that marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In Bible studies, sermons and songs the message was clear; having died for the sins of mankind on the cross, Jesus rose again promising eternal life for all those who believe in Him.

An important question to ask is, “What if Jesus did not rise from the grave?” What if He died and returned to the dust of the ground never to be heard from again? I know His disciples would have remembered Him as long as they lived. After all how do you forget someone who turned water into wine, fed 5,000 people with a few loaves of bread and a couple of fish and walked on water? I guarantee that all those who were healed would have told their stories of His miraculous power as long as they had breath. If someone restored your sight, cured you of deafness, healed you of leprosy or enabled you to walk after you had been paralyzed all your life, wouldn’t you tell the story over and over? Jesus would have been lovingly remembered for a generation or two, but probably not much longer. These stories of miracles would have inspired many, but without the resurrection there could be no healing of the soul, no promise of Heaven.

I saw a movie recently about a quadriplegic man who had been bedfast for 28 years. Once a handsome and active young man, a diving accident left him totally dependent on the help of others. Tired of living this way he chose to end his life, and just before he did so by drinking poison, he assured friends that he was confident that there was no Heaven or Hell and that he would simply cease to exist. The movie disturbed me. I wanted to jump through the screen and tell this man all about Jesus, His life, His death and most of all His resurrection. I wanted to tell him all about Heaven and the free gift of eternal life, but of course I couldn’t.

Going back to Paul’s statement, if we had hope in this life only, the story of Caring Hearts, the Orphanage, the Boys Home, the Feeding Station and the Blind Center would be heartwarming because a lot of people have been cared for and loved. But it would not be a story of triumph. I want to remind all of you that the greatest work we do in San Luis is telling people the Good News of salvation and life through Jesus Christ. Yes, we feed hungry people, but we also feed hungry souls. We minister to the blind, but only Jesus can open the eyes of the soul. Thank God that Jesus did rise from the grave. Because He did, we have hope in Christ in this life and hope for all eternity when this life is over. They call that victory!

BLIND OLYMPICS

Recently at the Shine a Light in Your Life Center for the Blind, an Olympic competition was held. City dignataries, including the mayor, were on hand to enjoy the intense competition, which consisted of a running race using plastic tape as a guide. Fun and medals were had by all, and it was a great time of fellowship. A number of blind people from Mexicali also came and participated. Here are some pictures.

NEW VOCATION AT OASIS

With the economy looking scarier every day, we at Caring Hearts are looking for ways to lower our expenses as much as possible. At Oasis, Pedro has started to teach the boys a little about farming. We now have a chicken coop which is yielding eggs, and they are preparing the land next to the teacher's dorm for a garden. Pray that they will reap a harvest and be motivated to learn even more during these difficult times.

I am just getting caught up after a busy March, and am finally getting to write a report for YOU, the Caring Hearts of Caring Hearts.

The first week of March we had a small group from different churches and Geneva College visit us. They did some painting at the Kino school and spent quality time with the kids of Bethel and Oasis. They also visited the soup kitchen and shut ins. Here are some pictures:

After this group left, our friends from Chi Alpha of Embery Riddle and Arizona State University came in. The Embery-Riddle students put on some roofs and played soccer with the boys. They also held some carnivals for kids at the soup kitchen, Bethel and a poor neighborhood. The Arizona State group ministered with the children, the dump, visited shut ins and helped with our Kino painting project. Here are some pictures:

Shortly after our spring breakers left, a large group from Albany Oregon came in. They worked a few days in another town with another pastor, then spent three days with us, ministering in the street and churches, with the shut ins and our kids. This is a family group that brings young children, a real testimony of the safety we find here with Caring Hearts in San Luis. Here are some pictures and testimonies

I took a mission trip from the U.S. to Mexico in March of 2011. We stayed at Caring Hearts. We came here to help feed the people and spread the good word to a place less privileged than the U.S. We shared some of the most amazing times with the people. I have read in the Bible of how we are to treat our neighbors. Well I have never experienced that till I spent time here. People who have very little fed us better than themselves. Some families eat meat once every three months. Those same people fed 30 of us all the time. Kids had us autograph their shirts just because we were Americans. I live in the U.S. and I don't feel like we are that great. In fact, it is the people in Mexico who are great despite what it looks like they don't have. It is the last night here and I find myself wanting to stay. If not for the responsibilities back home, I think things would be different. - John

Going to the dump was an eye opening experience. I expected the adults, but seeing all the children was heart wrenching - Kristen

This trip was awesome! I had a really good time. I made new friends. All the kids are so nice. I really liked doing a drama for the people in the park, and on the streets, and in churches. One of the best things for me was going to the dump. I can't imagine living in a ton of garbage. I liked passing out food. I will miss all the kids and being here. - Adam

Coming to Caring Hearts made me realize that in America, we take so much for granted. It seems as if here in Mexico, everyone puts family right after God. They spend so much time with their family. In America, it seems as if work comes before everything, including God. When we return home, my husband and I are going to work on spending more time together. - Shannon

ENCOURAGING WORDS

I received this letter from a Marine in Okinawa, Japan. He was in the orphanage years ago.

I am happy to see that the orphanage is doing great and has improve on a lot of things through the years. Looking at this photos takes me back when me, my two brothers and sister were there. We were there in 1988-1992, we were known as the perez' family. Back then it wasn't run by good people, but the best memories I have is when missionaries came to see us and spend time with all the kids in general.. But if it wasn't for the orphanage I wouldn't be the person that I am today. I've learned not to take anything for granted and it made me a stronger person. Now I'm giving back by serving in the U.S. Marine Corps for people like the missionaries can travel anywhere to help people in need. I visited the orphanage back in 2008 for the first time since I was there. I bought a big bag of candy and gave it out to the kids and that made them happy. I'm planning of visiting the orphanage as many times that I can, but right now I'm stationed in Okinawa, Japan and I don't go back to the states till 2013. All I wanted to say is thank you for making the place a relaxed and a great environment for the kids. I can see that they're really happy and having a lot of fun.

I’ve found that starting things is easy, finishing them is another thing. A while back we decided to paint our dining room. The job seemed simple enough; blue walls, white ceiling, and white on the trim. First I had to move the furniture to the center of the room and cover it. Then I had to remove pictures and shelves, patch plaster, sand and prime it. Most of the hard work took place before I ever opened a can of paint. But then, of course, there was the painting. The ceiling was first and rolling overhead will remind you of how many muscles there are in your neck and shoulders that seldom get used. Then the walls, rolling them is easy enough, but you have to cut in all the edges of the ceiling; a task that requires patience and a steady hand. Finally the trim. I don’t know why I never noticed before that the dining room had 3 doors and a large window with intricate trim that required a lot of time and effort to paint. I have to confess that my technique and attention to detail was not as good at the end as it was at the beginning.

This same thing can happen to you in your walk with Christ. Plans to fast, pray, give and serve are easy to make, but hard to carry out. Commitment to a ministry or a cause can begin to falter when you don’t see the results you want as quickly as you want.

Up here in Western PA, in the snowy cold gray days of winter, it is easy to forget about the Orphanage, Boy’s Home, Feeding Station, Bible School and Blind Ministry. When I sit down to write a check to support a child, read this Newsletter or check Ken’s E-Mail reports, I am reminded that I am part of a great ministry that is already providing a harvest of souls in the Kingdom of God. I encourage you to remember that you are part of something great that God is doing. Don’t give up! The fruit of Caring Hearts Ministries is growing richer every day.

GROUP TESTIMONIES

Well, we are finally getting caught up with everything during this slow time without groups, while getting ready for a busy March. I wanted to share some testimonies and pictures froma group who was here in January, Grace Methodist and IUP of Indiana PA. Enjoy and be blessed!

This was an amazing experience that I had here in Mexico. I absolutely love playing with the children. I also love when the children from the village where the work site was located would come over everyday and spend time with us. I learned a great deal from the people of Mexico. Everyone is very loving, generous and thankful, and specially being joyful. People are very willing to share what they have and even the children. I was playing with a little girl at the work site and the little girl was out of breath ; therefore, I asked if she needed water and she ran home to get some. When the little girl came back, she had brought a glass of water for me ! It was one of the most generous acts of kindness I had ever experienced. This trip to Mexico, the people of Mexico, and the children of Mexico have been and will continue to be an immense blessing to me! - Melissa

I do not think I can sum up my trip in a few sentences. What a blessing. I am so happy that I chose to follow God and come here to give of myself to these people for a short week. I wish I could have done more. As much as my actions blessed them, I feel as I have received twice as much in return. So many hugs, kisses and smiles in only a few hours spent with the children melted my heart. Words can not express my experience on this trip. I reconnected with my soul and God. Children and adults both showed me what God's love truly is. Their love for life and God are like none other. At the end of a very long day, I was exhausted from the work and sun. I got out of the van and a child was standing there with their arms up. As soon as I picked him up, I was re-energized. The love and compassion he gave me was through God and there is no experience like that. This trip has forever changed my life. - Shawn

The trip to Bethel and the San Luis Community was my first mission trip ever. To be surrounded by my fellow teammates and all the members of the community that we were able to reach was a first in my life. I have never seen, heard nor felt so much love and faith in God, ever. This trip has made me realize that although I have established a relationship with Christ, I have so much more to learn and grow. Everyone I have met in my own group and from San Luis, Mexico has inspired me to push forward for Christ, minister more, pray more, listen better, read His Word, open myself up to any and all opportunities God provides for me. - Heather

Coming back to San Luis is like coming home. I love renewing old friendships and making new ones and seeing what God is doing through the ministry of Caring Hearts in San Luis. This was my very first mission trip ever. I had no idea what to expect. I was a little nervous but yet excited. This trip was more than I could have ever imagine. The people here are so loving and faithful. The kids here are just so amazing. They love each other like brothers and sisters. This whole experience will change my life forever. I will be more loving than I am to everyone. My faith is much stronger. My faith and love for mission work has grown so much. I even want to adopt some of the kids even though I am still in college and having no idea what God has in store for me in the future. Overall, this trip was outstanding. BLIND CENTER ACTIVITIES

When we started construction on the blind center, I told the director of the blind association that the best way to give thanks is to use it as soon as it was complete. We who built it want to know it is being used to help the blind. Judging by what has happened this past week, Linvania is very grateful. The center has started with a flurry of activities from 9 to 3 every day. They are learning to walk with a cane, making crafts, getting counseling and taking advantage of the many resources we were able to obtain. Here is a look of some of what has been happening:

Well done, Good and Faithful Servant - Matthew 25

We were out in the villages where the streets are sand and the houses are one room shacks made out of cardboard and tires. As was our routine we picked a spot, got out of the van and sent people out for several blocks inviting the villagers to come. On this sunny afternoon, we were in a particularly desolate area and Harry got out, took out his violin and started to play. Our interpreter went up to him and said, “Brother, if you want the people to come you must pull that bow very, very hard.” Harry set his feet and laid into the strings; increasing the volume to get the attention of the villagers. I remember walking a long way, knocking on doors, inviting people to come and at one point I looked back and there in the distance was Harry, all by himself, dust swirling around him in the open street, pulling the bow over the strings very, very hard. Before long a crowd had gathered and we did our thing; singing, preaching and distributing beans, rice, candy for the children and Spanish Bibles.

Back at the Orphanage, Harry, a retired draftsman, played with the children, helped pack bags of rice and beans and worked on building projects. He and I painted the kitchen on one of the earliest trips and had to scrub the grease off the walls to get the paint to stick. Harry was a Deacon, a member of our Worship Team and a faithful servant at Christian Life Church for more than 70 years! Having survived a major heart attack in 1977, he had open heart surgery which was a new technique at that time. They said the repairs made on his heart would last 15 years, but Harry got on a healthy diet and walked every day rain or shine and his heart lasted 33 years. Last month at the age of 84 he got up one morning, went to the gym to walk, then went to a men’s meeting at Panera Bread. He went home, had supper and went to bed. Awaking around midnight he told his wife Thelma he didn’t feel good and moments later he lay down and left this world for a better country. Harry was a remarkable man, but typical of the kind of people who work with Caring Hearts. He made several trips to San Luis; all of them after the age of 64. When we lose great people like Harry we tend to worry that we will never find another one like him. But I choose to trust God that He is raising up young people to pick up the standard and carry on the work of the Kingdom. Maybe one of those people is you.

JANUARY REPORT

What a crazy month it has been! And it has been a month since I last posted to this blog, for our followers, sorry about that! But it has been none stop until now, and it is still going, the work that is. I have been up since 1 AM catching up on Emails, and now at 4:45 AM I am starting these reports.

First of all, the second St. Ferdinand group of the year, who came in the day after Christmas. They help us advance the blind center by putting up the trusses and roof. They also did benches for the porch.

After that came came group from Grace Methodist and IUP of Indiana Pennsylvania. They built a kitchen for the tire house and ministered in the community. Here are some pictures of their work.

The dream team came the day IUP left, determined to finish up the blind center in 6 days. Have you ever seen ABC's Extreme Makover Home Edition? Well, this week we lived it. Over 45 people worked 17 hour days to make it happen, and in the end, we sighed with relief, mission accomplished. NEW YEARS MESSAGE FROM PASTOR GARY

Psalm 126:3

“The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”

Living in the Northeast there is only one thing I like about January; it is the beginning of a brand new year with 365 opportunities for me to serve God and for Him to do the wonderful things He does.

Forty years ago I was a lost and confused young man with no future. But God had a plan, He always does. I could never have dreamed that I would become a Christian, be blessed with a wonderful wife, three children and seven grandchildren and called to be a Pastor.

I had an earthly perspective not a heavenly one and I didn’t have a vision. But now I do. The first time I went to San Luis twenty years ago, all I saw was broken down orphanage, a small soup kitchen and a lot of hurting people. I had no idea that Bethel Orphanage would be transformed into a beautiful haven for these precious children. I didn’t envision Oasis Boy’s Home, Caring Hearts Church, Doers of the Word Bible school, the growth of Brother Jose’s Good Samaritan Feeding Ministry, medical mission’s trips, hundreds of groups going down to help, and now a ministry to the blind.

God thinks so big and we think so small. Who knows what God is going to do in San Luis through Caring Hearts Ministries in 2011. We need to pray for our Mexican brothers and sisters as their nation goes through such a dark and violent time.

But God has a plan for Mexico that no one can imagine and no one can stop! Thank you for giving, going and praying. May the Lord do great things for you in this coming year

NOVEMBER TESTIMONIES

I am finally getting caught up. We are still real busy, working on the blind center, finishing up the first half of the school year, and working with Christmas visitors. I have some testimonies from the November groups I want to share with you. I hope you enjoy reading what God did through the group from Walnut Grove Assembly of God.

This was my first missions trip and I pray that I will not forget the experiences from here. All of the individuals that I met seem to be genuinely happy. You know that the folks here at Bethel love and care for one another. The building project and other outreach events were fun and a great learning experience. The people here love one another and love the Lord Jesus. That will be what I remember the most. – Jim

It is just a blessing to come to San Luis and work for the Lord. This is my fourth trip and the Lord makes each trip new and wonderful. Thanks to all the Caring Heart staff for their hard work to make the trip run smooth. – Bill

I was amazed at how joyful those children are. They have only just the basics and are still so happy. Watching them makes you realize how ungrateful you can be for what God has blessed you with. Also, how easily and brightly the light of God shines through people down here is astounding. They are so kind and thankful and understanding. The trip has only strengthened my walk with Christ and makes me want to do more missions. – Eric

This was mine and Bobbys' first trip to lead a group for a mission to San Luis. We had a small group and consider it Gods' grace so that we can ease into this and learn as we go. We worked on Marcelos' family house painting, installing doors, plumbed a bathroom and installed the tub and toilet and built a room on the back for storage. We only had six others for a total of eight in our group, but with Gods' help, lots of prayer, and fellowship we got a lot of work done, with no injuries or sickness - Praise His Name! Marcelo himself and a brother and friend Javier and Adalberto were with us every day. It is every mans' testimony that they learned from Marcelo and Javier and vice versa. We visited the rehab center, the jail and the dump to minister at each and walked away incredibly blessed by the faith and love of God that some already knew and how we watched some come to know. It is such an honor to serve such a mighty and wonderful God and to be used by him to serve such wonderful, loving people. The people of San Luis. Bless you always. – LorI

LET'S BLESS JESSE'S FAMILY

The Earthen Vessel of our friend Jesse was laid to rest yesterday. We will miss him greatly, but are encouraged by the truth that he is rejoicing in a new body with the Lord, and if he could, he would tell us to keep on serving the Lord, because it is worth it.

Jesse and his family lived a humble life by faith, with a small stipend from the Bible School and the offerings from his small church. There was no insurance or savings account. The expenses for his funeral were around $850. We have helped his wife Isa with this by faith, and we could use your help as well. JESSE'S GRADUATION

Our Bible School Teacher Jesse Figeroa has gone on to be with His Lord and Savior, in a new body, to enjoy his reward for all eternity. Please pray for his friends and family who will miss him greatly as we continue on in this earth.

NOVEMBER NEWS AND NOTES

I am in bed right now, laptop buzzing, writing this report. I had severe strep throat, and the doctor ordered me to rest while the antibiotics do their work. Please be praying, we have a group here now and it is hard for me to be sick during this busy time.

This month has been very busy, with only 3 days without a group here. The first week we had a group from Walnut Grove Assembly of God, led by Bob and Lori Laskovics. They did a lot of detail work at Marcelo's house, and ministered with the children of the orphanage and needy people of San Luis.

The same day they left, a small group from Sonlight Missions came in. They helped a Christian Rehab Center put on a new roof.

A tire house for Edit, a single mother with 3 children who is battling cancer.

The day they left, a group from Saint Ferdinand's came to town. They started an unique house for one of our shut ins, made out of tires and sand. They also ministered a lot to our shut ins and were a great blessing.

A new TV for Alfonso, a widower we minister to. Thanks St. Ferdinands!

Now we have a group from Lebanon Presbyterian who are building a patio for a new feeding center. They will also be ministering around town.

All this while at the same time we have started the construction of the School for the Blind. If you want to see how that is going, check out our special blog at www.chmblind.blogspot.com.

In other news, two of our shut ins folks have visited passed away recently. Rosa, who suffered with breast cancer, went home to be with the Lord as well as Santa, who had diabetes, anemia and other problems. We thank God that they are now at peace in the arms of Jesus with no more medical issues to deal with.

We also had a trip to Tecate this month. 5 patients from San Luis went, and three were operated on. I thank Adalberto and Maria for once again helping out with this ministry.

Today, Pedro told me that Paola had a blood test and her red blood cells miraculously jumped up to over 200,000! Praise the Lord!!! Pedro had a spiritual experience in his home a few days ago, and felt God has broken through. Thank you for your prayers and support, God is good.

I will be posting more pictures and testimonies soon, once this current group is done and I feel better. In the meantime keep praying.

Paola is currently out of the hospital, and feels OK, though her red blood cell level is still low, around 26,000 the last time it was checked, when it needs to be 150,000. She needs to be careful not to injure herself in anyway and not do anything strenuous. November 12 she will go for a check to make sure that it is continuing its upward climb. She is being treated with steroids now, and we all know that those have side effects, so we are still praying for a complete miracle cure. The urgency of the Human Gamagoblulin is not as great, but we want to know of sources if it is needed in the future, so don't stop looking. I want to thank all of the folks who have sent in their pledges to help, we were able to pay the initial hospital and additional funds will be used for the medicines she needs for the next few weeks. Keep praying, and hopefully November 12 we will have a good report.

Our oldest son, his wife and two children recently moved back to Pennsylvania after living in California for 10 years. Renee’ and I are thrilled to have at least two of our Grandchildren nearby. Right now they are very near by, living with us until they buy a house. Four year old Ella and Two year old Jack have really brightened up our “Empty Nest” with their antics and we love it. I had forgotten how much energy little kids have and how much work they can be, but it is so much fun to watch them learn with a sense of wonder and excitement. Having been born and raised in the high desert of southern California, they were used to sand, rocks and cactus; they had never seen autumn leaves before. So I got out a rake and my leaf blower and we made piles of leaves, jumped in them, they blew them in the air with the leaf blower. They are a blessing, but they are also very blessed. They have more than enough food, clothing, medical care, toys and anything else they need. What Caring Hearts Ministries does in San Luis is provide a safe, healthy environment where children without families can live and learn and grow just like kids in the U.S. Bethel Orphanage, Oasis Boys’ Home and Good Samaritan Soup Kitchen have helped thousands of kids over the years. Your giving, going and praying has made that possible. Thank you for your generosity. Instead of “Looking down on these little ones”, you picked them up with caring hands and gave them a fighting chance. Your Heavenly Father sees this and is pleased.

I talked with Pedro this morning. He had a meeting with the specialist who just arrived from Las Vegas. What is needed right now is an intense treatment with the serum HUMAN GAMAGLOBULIN. They need 120g. This is the same medicine that they had to get at the outset, and it cost $600 for just 5g. Without it, she will be in the hospital for months as they slowly treat it. This medicine is not covered by the state insurance. If anyone has a way to get this medicine at a reduced cost or donated, let us know. I think we can get it across the border without any problem. This is a desperate need. Further tests to discover the cause cannot be conducted until her red blood count is normalized. Juana and I visited Paola yesterday in the General Hospital of Mexicali. She was in good spirits despite the fact that she is bedridden. She doesn't feel sick, but she is in a dangerous situation, where any bump or bruise can prove to be problematic. Her red blood count has gone up and down from 1000 to 9000 under medication, but it is a lot lower than the 150,000 that it needs to be. The current diagnosis is Immune thrombocytopenic purpura, and if you click on the name you will see an article about it. She will be seeing a specialist today who has been out of town, and we hope to have an idea of what the treatment will need to be. I want to thank all who pledged, we have the first hospital and treatment covered for the most part. As I get more news I will let know. - Ken

Paola, Pedro's third daughter is very ill. A few days ago dark bruise like blemishes appeared on her skin and they took her to a doctor. It turned out she had a very low blood count, about 10% of the norm. She is in a hospital in Mexicali now waiting for a blood transfusion. They are also doing analysis for what caused this problem, the kidneys and liver are fine, they will be doing a bone marrow test to check for leukemia. Please be praying, and if you can help at all financially, it would be appreciated. She has insurance, but it is a state run program and they would have had to send her 9 hours away. Her doctors thought that in her state it would have been too dangerous, so they are using a private hospital. The first treatment is going to cost $500, and I am sure there will be other costs coming down the pike. We need your help! Be praying please!

BLIND CENTER GROUND BREAKING

MEDICAL CLINIC

Well, the annual medical clinic has come and gone, and we thank God for the great results. We gave out 5688 different treatments (Medical, Optical, Dental and Chiropractic) to 4050 individual patients. Best of all, 466 people made sincere commitments to Jesus Christ. Our team of 42 people from the United States combined with volunteers from our church, rehab centers and city government to provide a quick and efficient service for the needy people. All were blessed as God moved in different ways throughout the week. We are already planning for next years clinic, please consider joining us for this exciting ministry. When I saw that we were going to have 6 weeks without a group, one of my first concerns were our shut ins. We have been able to pay special visits to many of them at least once a month, but we didn't have a group for September. So I worked with Ines and we took a team from the Boy's Home, along with my wife and Kendi, to visit 7 families during the Independence Day ministry. The Spirit moved as Brother Pedro ministered in every location. I think the boys learned to appreciate what they have when they saw these people in desperate need. Here are some pictures.

In January I was diagnosed with diabetes so when we went to visit shut-ins I thought it would be cool to meet someone with diabetes. It ended up not happening so we had a church service that night and during worship at the end the pastor called up anyone that needed prayer. So I was praying and I open my eyes and two girls are standing in front of me. I laid hands on one and the other girl looked at me and said (in English) she is sick. She needs help with her blood sugars. She has diabetes. I knew it was God. I got to pray with her and encourage her. She was so scared but I got to give her strength. This was my second trip to Mexico. It was hard for me to come back knowing that Maria, the little girl I connected with last year was no longer at the orphanage. I was missing her and I was so worried about her because I didn’t know where she was. But on this trip God just really showed me that His plan is not like anything we can ever imagine. Isaiah 55:8 had been my verse for this trip from when I first found out Maria had gone home to be with her mom. On Thursday evening this lady opened up the service with that verse and it was just so cool how He is in control. It says “For your ways are not my ways neither are your thoughts my thoughts declares the Lord.” I feel such a peace now and I know that I can trust in Him with all of my needs. I pray for Maria and her family every single time they cross my mind and I know that God is taking care of them. – Karli

My trip to San Luis, Mexico was simply a God-send. I am so grateful to have been given the provisions to go. God has truly made himself real on this trip , and through that I am so fortunate to have been used by Him and through Him. This was my third trip to Mexico and it was full of even more surprises and unpredictability than before. My heart had melted and still melts for every child that lives at Bethel Orphanage. They changed my life and show me what true love really is. THE GREAT COMMISION
Matthew 28:19-20
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

You might be surprised to hear this but there has been a growing hostility toward Christian Missionaries around the world. Of course we know there has always been opposition to the Gospel in pagan cultures, but this is something different. The Bible and the Church are not held in the same regard they once were. As the world becomes increasingly secular, religion is seen as an intrusion. Some complain that the church forces its beliefs and practices on other cultures, replacing unique and diverse societies with a western brand of Christianity. As I read about this I thought about the people we minister to in San Luis. Have we changed their language, food, dress or music? No. If anything, they have influenced us. When we minister at Bethel Orphanage, the Oasis Boys home, the prison, drug rehabs and in the streets, we are not trying to make Americans out of Mexicans; we’re making disciples just as Jesus instructed us in The Great Commission above. Perhaps those who question the validity of Christian missions should ask the hungry people at the Good Samaritan soup kitchen, the lonely women in the local prison, the blind, the shut-ins, the recovering addicts and the orphans of San Luis if they feel we are helping or hurting them.

Christians will always carry out Jesus instructions to “Make disciples of all nations” It is a command not a suggestion. And yes, we extend His love to those who question the very premise of missions work as well. God loves them and gave his Son for them. Thank you for giving, going and praying. This was my second year going to San Luis, Mexico. As always, God did incredible, life changing things while we were there. I could tell that He was clearly moving and working in the people before we got there, when we got there, and I'm sure He still is now. The presence of God was overwhelming the whole week. I could feel Him in everything we did. He created so many perfect moments and divine appointments that I can't even begin to list them all. He worked in us as much as he worked in the people of San Luis. >We met so many people who have so little but are so happy. I have to admit that if I was in their situation, I'm not sure that I would be able to rejoice as they do or be as grateful as they are. Being with the people in San Luis, even though I thought I knew what to expect (since I'd been there before) just completely blew my mind. I thought, before I came here, that my priorities were pretty okay, but my week in Mexico completely slammed them back into place. Even though it was so hard to leave, I know that God is still in San Luis and still doing amazing things. I can't wait to come back, but I am also happy to be home so I can tell people about all the amazing things I got to see God do. I love San Luis, and will always be praying for everyone there. – Gianna

SPECIAL VISITOR

Last night at our childrens program, Jesus Zarza, co-pastor of the Potters House Church in Las Vegas, shared with the kids. The amazing thing about this is that Jesus lived in the orphanage from 1983 - 1995, 12 years. He shared how he helped with the construction of the very church the children were worshipping in, and how a time capsule was placed with a gospel message in the foundation. It is a blessing to see how God has worked in his life to bring him from the orphanage to a successful and blessed life. Jesus and his wife prayed with the children as well.

INCLINE YOUTH GROUP

In the second week of August we welcomed the Incline Youth Group from Monroeville Assembly of God. They braved the August heat of San Luis bravely as they painted, constructed, and ministered in many places and ways throughout the city. I hope to have testimonies from them soon, in the meantime enjoy their pictures and a testimony from one of their young people.

So going to Mexico, I heard it was a life changing experience. It put me under a lot of pressure I guess; I thought God wasn't going to use me down there. When we pulled up to the orphanage last Saturday, tears filled my eyes I couldn't believe we were finally there. Waking up the next morning I was, extremely nervous. But then this little girl Dulce stole my heart all through the week. And I thought, that was all god had in store, to love on her, but I was really wrong. We went to the shut ins on Monday. And God totally changed my priorities. I realized how much I had when we went to a home with a mom who could barely walk 4 boys, and a two room house with two twin size beds. Those boys were probably, the happiest boys I've ever seen though. They had this flattened soccer ball, and they couldn't do anything with it but, they loved it. And another shut in, Ken described as an elderly couple, was a couple in a plywood shack, and the husband was like, pure bones. He had one week to live and he wouldn't eat. He didn't even have enough strength to lift up his arm, he tried and it fell back down. And I was just, in shock. Because I thought of how, with how much I have, I could probably never be in the situation of one room with a bed and a toilet. It made me think of how lately, I've been asking for new bedroom furniture. But the furniture I have is way nicer then the woman's table at shut-ins that fell when she set something on it. God has blessed me with so much, and I haven't been grateful for it, until now. At one of the village ministries, I looked at these people with nothing, who loved God so much and trusted him with everything they had, and I busted into tears. These people were so grateful and so happy. The next day we went to the dump. And everybody was talking about giving away there shoes. And I asked God if I should give them away and he said yes. So I walked up, and I gave Mr. Mike my shoes and they said cinco!? And only one lady there needed my size shoe, and it was just, kind of a blessing to know that, if God wouldn't have brought me down there, then that lady wouldn't have gotten shoes. Its little things like that that shows you God knows what he is doing. And then that night we were at church and, I was in tears from the time service began until the end, and I remember Dulce saying, why are you crying? And I said, I don't know. Later I realized that room was just filled with God's presence. Those people came to the altar and broke down into to tears as we prayed for them. And they couldn't understand a word we said but it was like. They can still feel God! They still know him! And He still loves them SO INCREDIBLY MUCH! So, Mexico really opened my eyes up and set my priorities straight. It taught me to rejoice in everything, trust God, and Love him more than you love anything else because, he's truly all you need. SONLIGHT MISSIONS

The first week of August we were blessed by a group from Sonlight Missions, made up of a group from Word of Life Church in Greensburg and Salida 7, a Latin Christian Rock Band from New Jersey. Leaders Heath and Bill did a great job with this large group that ministered in every way possible. We did VBS in two places daily, visited shut ins, rehab centers and the jail. We did street and church ministry. They painted part of our Junior and Senior High School, AND we did 4 concerts with Salida 7. Whew!!! It was a busy week, but one of the funnest I have had here in ministry. Many lives were touched of all ages. This was the first time we organized outdoor concerts, and thanks to Juan and Los Del Camino from San Luis, everything worked out great. The guys from Salida 7 were humble and willing to sing anywhere with any sized crowd, and they were fantastic! Check them out at their website www.salida7.com. The group from Word of Life were well prepared, hard working and flexible, and had a great time. I hope to have some of their testimonies soon for you. In the meantime, here are some pictures.

Juan, who leads worship for the Getsemani Church and Bethel Church, is giving the classes in different instruments. “You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like a storm driving against a wall and like the heat of the desert.” Isaiah 25:4-5a

The other day I held my month old Grandson Luke in my arms. Only 6lbs 5oz when he was born, he’s a tiny little guy and I realized that although I’ve had plenty of experience with babies, I felt nervous holding such a delicate little treasure. It was 92 degrees outside with oppressive humidity, but Luke was dressed in a brand new outfit, wrapped in a clean soft baby blanket, well-fed and lovingly cared for. He was safe and secure in the arms of his Grandfather in a comfortably air-conditioned living room in one of the wealthiest and safest nations in the world.
At that very moment in the vicinity of San Luis, Mexico, I’m sure there were babies just like him, some perhaps born on the very same date, but living in very different conditions. San Luis in July is incredibly hot and although the humidity is usually low, the dust from the streets of sand and the smoke from the brick yard and the burning garbage more than make up for the lack of humidity on the misery index. A child born in a small casa made of brick and
scavenged materials from cardboard to corrugated tin would not have a brand new outfit or a soft blanket and he certainly wouldn’t have air-conditioning. His mother in all likelihood would have had no pre-natal care and food would not be plentiful not even for a newborn child.

Although San Luis has been fortunate in escaping the drug war violence other areas are experiencing, it is nonetheless in a nation that is being ravaged by bloodshed and violence. The “breath of the ruthless”… blows hot across Mexico against the walls of a million vulnerable homes. These needy people need a refuge, a shelter in their distress, and a shade from the heat. That’s where Caring Hearts comes in. That’s where you come in. Your work in San Luis, your
prayers and your giving make it possible for our Mexican brothers and sisters to confirm the words of the prophet in this verse of scripture. We need always to remember that God’s promises of protection and provision are true, but He isn’t going to come down from Heaven and do the work. He sends caring hearts and working hands to be a shelter and a refuge to the needy in distress. The orphanage, church, boys’ home, training center, and feeding station are shelters
for hundreds. Thousands of others are touched through medical missions, the Tin Roof Project and now a ministry to shut-ins and to the blind.

Thank you for being a part of God’s promise of provision and protection for good people who deserve the same blessings we enjoy.

This has been my third time coming here to San Luis. I absolutely love coming here to help spread the word of God. Of the love we are supposed to have for one another. I also was reminded of how our faith should always be put in God no matter the circumstance. RED ZONE GROUP

We were blessed last month with a group from the Red Zone group from the Monroeville Assembly of God. They painted a school and ministered in different ways throughout San Luis. Papa Harold was on hand with several of his grandkids. I will let them tell their story with testimonies and photos.

This was my first mission trip out of the country. I tend to struggle with fear and I was feeling somewhat anxious about this trip. But when I came to San Luis, I began to see the beautiful ministry that Caring Hearts does for the community and I began to realize that when I give in to fear – I am not the only one who misses out on the opportunities that God has for me. The people whom God wants me to minister to also miss out. That completely changed my perspective. That thought helped me to step out to minister so much more while in San Luis. I was very blessed to have been a part of this trip. – Rebecca

It really struck me how well behaved, good-natured, mature and happy the kids are at Bethel and Oasis. I can’t think of any kids in the United States that are better behaved and respectful. Caring Hearts has given a wonderful opportunity to these kids and it is an amazing thing to see – Lindsey

It has been incredible how much God has impacted my spiritual journey and my life in general for this trip. I was thinking about how much I would be used by God to help the people here in San Luis grow closer to Him, but I did not give any thought to how this mission trip would help strengthen my relationship with God. From ministering to the shut-ins, at the drug rehab center - El Rancho - to handing out rice and beans and preaching the Word of God in the prison. I have seen God’s work first hand and I hope that I have been as much of a blessing to the people of San Luis as they and God have been to me. I am so thankful that God gave me this opportunity to reach people and grow closer to Him, - Zach

God truly is everywhere and I got to experience Him in an even greater way than ever before here in San Luis, Mexico! You could see Jesus in the faces of His people here. As we prepared ourselves to go out we asked for God to show up and He never failed to meet us in such a real way. There were no barriers between us and the people. No walls, no English/Spanish issues, just God and open hearts waiting to receive. It was amazing to see how God focused ALL of our hearts separately on the same topics. All our studies lined up with each others and our unity was strong through the Word of God. Miracles were happening before our eyes. A woman with Parkinson’s was given peace to her soul and body. She walked around showing her steady hand and claiming Jesus name. God gave us visions for His people and words of wisdom. We strengthened tired and weary believers with his word. And he brought us joy and strength through out the trip. I will never forget San Luis, Mexico and nor do I think that this will be my only trip here. God is moving here and this place is on its way to a revival that I would gladly be a part of. I thank God for letting me be a part of His plan. All the glory to God! – Brittany

The staff we worked with at Caring Hearts was great. Adalberto, Javier and Virginia were sweet to do ministry with. I learned a few things about myself, Do’s Word and people. It was a growing experience. – Derek

My experience with Caring Hearts was one I will never forget. I wasn’t sure how I could make an impact but by the end of the week, I knew I had. Lazara, one of the older girls, wanted to learn how to cut hair and I was able to teach her some. More importantly, I felt I was building her spirit to show her God’s love. She is a shy and quiet girl who has had many hardships but I can see how this place can change people. – Kay

I have been overwhelmed the warm welcome from those that live here in San Luis. With a group of 25 adults, I did not expect so many to make us meals, give up their seats in services, allow us to use there yards for ministry, or even their banos for complete strangers. Secondly, I would say that I am honored to have been able to serve alongside those serving here in San Luis, I have been a “frequenter” of Bethel for many years with Caring Hearts Ministries, and have seen a tremendous growth in the body of Christ here. When driving throughout the city, one can see many established places of worship. When ministering in the villages, it was evident that most have heard the Word of God. Even in the heat of the summer, quite a large number of people gather at the soup kitchen for Bible study. I believe that our group could have gone to a church service every night had we wanted to. The few that we did visit were completely packed with standing room only. This is evidence to me that those here are laboring for the Kingdom and making disciples. Those leaders and laborers in San Luis, those that live here are doing it right. Their city is being blessed by it. Christ is glorified in it. I am honored to serve with them. I only wish I saw the same growth in the United States. I want to know when San Luis can bring a group of missionaries to my home. In hope that these words would be encouraging to the body, I would have like to share this with the church in San Luis, Mexico. -Kristi

BACK FROM VACATION!

Wow! It has been a while since I posted at this blog. I was on vacation, had a wonderful time visiting my brother and his family in England. Now we are back and getting back into the grove. CORNERSTONE MINISTRIES

A group from Cornerstone Ministries blessed us this past week with a group of 19 people. They helped us paint the Junior High School that our kids go to, and ministered to young and old throughout San Luis, with songs, drama and testimonies. Here are some photos and testimonies.

Hi, My name is Morgan. I’m 14 years old and this is my 2^nd trip to Mexico. My testimony is rather simple. I have been struggling with my faith and belief in God over the past few years. However, by seeing and hearing of the miracles happening in this small city, my faith has been restored. Mexico saved my relationship with Christ and I now am on FIRE for the Lord! – Morgan

This is my first mission trip. I really didn’t know what to expect. I talked with those that have been here to get an idea of what to expect. I felt that God really wanted me to come on this trip. Now that the week has come to an end, I feel that God has showed me things that I needed to see and feel. I know that I am not the most compassionate person I now have more compassion in my heart than when I arrived in Mexico. I am truly blessed to live in the United States. A piece of me will always be in Mexico and I hope to return. I will keep Caring Hearts in my thoughts and prayers always. Thank you for the opportunity to serve! -Jay

My beliefs have changed this week. I now don’t believe I live a life any better in America. I now believe that it is just different. We are all God’s children and have the grace to live any where in the world God desires. It is all about god in this life and not about us. Caring Hearts ministry will always be a special place because this is a special place ad God’s presence is truly there in all the leaders and the people of San Luis. – Randy

Before I came to San Luis, I prayed that I would be a blessing to those here. What a surprise to find that god blessed ME through the many different people that I met. I saw the things that break God’s heart and my heart was broken. But I also saw the pure joy of the Lord and heard praises to God in a language that I could not understand the words. And although I didn’t understand the words spoken, I learned that the language of God – LOVE – can be spoken anywhere, anytime, through a smile or a touch or a hug. Singing praise songs to God in a language I didn’t speak felt even more sincere because I was able to focus on Him more. I have been inspired to go home where I do speak the same language as my neighbors and to speak the truth of Jesus boldly like Ken and Juana and Virginia and Aldaberto and the other wonderful staff of Caring Hearts. I wade doubly blessed to e here with my sever\n year old son. Seeing him play with the children of Bethel and the true joy they shared warmed my heart. God is moving in San Luis and He is mightily using Caring Hearts Ministries. Thank you for the many blessings I received. I pray that someone in Mexico was touched by my son and me the way that we were blessed by them! There is so much need here, and I pray God will continue to use my family and me in some way at caring Hearts! – Corri

This year as I returned to Mexico, I was having problems with worrying too much and not trusting God enough. Just being around people with only enough for that day. They trust that God will take care of them and watch over them. It helped me realize that God will watch over me too. – Liafaith.

This is my fourth trip here to San Luis. I love having a Christian family at Bethel and having everyone greet you. Aldalberto Garcia is always the one I look forward to seeing most. He has become like a father to me. My favorite times this year were following him around. I loved painting with him! He has such a caring sweet spirit. Adalberto has a servant heart. He truly shows what it means to be Christ-like. God has really shown me that Mexico is home because that’s where He wants me to be. – Amy

This has been my fourth trip to Caring Hearts and in some ways, the best. The week went slowly, which I was grateful for, bit I only wish the mission went on for at least one more. I enjoyed the services we did for others, the children at Bethel, and just being HOME. The air conditioning in the women’s dorms was good also, and was nice when it was very hot outside. But all in all, this trip was incredibly enjoyable and San Luis feels more like home as ever; I hope I’ll come back many more times. – Becky

I have always wanted to go on a mission trip but I never really knew of any. Then, the chance came to go to Mexico and God put the excitement in my heart and my parents let me and my sister go. Seeing the children all excited when we first arrived made my heart jump for joy. They were so ready to give love to us and also receive love from us. This really reminded me to love everyone because that’s how we showcase God’s love. Also, the elderly people at the nursing home touched my heart. They families, for some of the, never came to visit and they seemed so alone. However, when we were praising Jesus you could see the joy spread across their faces and that their love for Jesus was strong. This reminded me that you need God when God all you have. Many other experiences such as these have taught me so much and helped me grow with the Lord. I will definitely be coming back another time. – Madie

At the beginning of my trip the enemy tried to stop me from doing God’s work! Thanks to the medical field and prayer I returned back to normal. I had severe swelling and itching of my hands and feet that much have been an allergic reaction. I met a young girl at the Indian village we went to that was handicap and crying. Her family asked me to pray for her. She stopped crying soon after and there were many people surrounding me by the end of the prayer. The next day she was at the church we went to and had a lot more joy in her. I was also able to give my testimony to a woman’s rehab! I found that to be a great experience to help others. Everything is a reflection of God’s grace. – Michelle

Being it was my first mission trip outside of the US I was concerned about being able to communicate or be of any real help. After getting here and finding out between God, a translator and just being me sharing God’s love there is no real barrier. The trip here reminded me of our trip to the Philippines to adopt our son Dan, of how poor everybody in these areas are, and how privileged we are – Jim

Honestly for a lot of this trip I felt like I was in a fog. Seeing people at the dump and in tiny houses seemed unreal to me. I think I realized that I take so many things for granted in my life. So many people just yearned and wanted the love of Jesus. I guess I am learning that it is true when people say when you have nothing you really do need Jesus because He is everything. It was so amazing to me because I think that I would be angry and upset in their situation. So though I came to minister to others I think that I had also been ministered to just as musch. Thank you for everything you are doing here. God is working in wonderful ways. - Kailey

RON HEMBREE 1938-2010

It is with great sadness that I inform you that last night the president of Cornerstone Television and our friend Ron Hembree went home to be with the Lord. At the same time we rejoice for we know he is in eternity receiving his bountiful reward in the Lord.

Ron was an integral part of my Christian life for many years. I worked on his first daily programs Rejoice and Project 90. We also worked closely together on programs I produced, Inside Report and Vintage Videos. I was the first missionary to appear on the Project 90 program and that helped me raise the initial support I needed to go to Mexico full time. His love of missions was infectious, and it is that love that has made CTV an integral part of what we are doing here in Caring Hearts. Ron also had a love for orphans and always looked for ways to help them all over the world. Our children here are also grateful, because they have been beneficiaries of his generous and loving spirit.

We will miss Ron, and we are praying for his wife Cathy and his family as they pass this time of sorrow. At the same time, we continue on with the work given to us by God, knowing that Ron is in His arms cheering us on. If he could, he would tell us to keep on loving the orphans and keep on reaching out to the lost souls, because it is all worth it.

RENNE FAMILY TESTIMONIES

Here are a couple of testimonies from the Renne family, who visited us recently:

I love sharing life with God's family all over the world. It has been a wonderful experience to come here and worship with my brothers and sisters in Jesus and to share in their culture. Trips like this remind me and show me that Jesus is King in every country, in every culture....He always deserves ownership. Every tongue will confess He is Lord - we worship in Spanish and English. Every knee will bow to Him. Mexico belongs to God as does all the world, and the best way to really understand the majesty of that is to experience it. - Fidelia

I very much connected with Adalberto. His passion to see God move is inspiring.....and something I both share and find contagious. I always desire to see God move, but my expectation waxes and wanes. Whatever is "contagious" in Adalberto caused my expectations to "wax" (increase). When we went to the rehab center, 15 or more women gave themselves to the Lord, one or more was crying (one in particular caught my attention).* That was fun ! The shut-in ministry was also fun. We took pictures and wrote down each person's name and prayer request. For one school year we plan to have each person's pictureand prayer request, and plan to continue to pray for them. Adalberto promised to let us know how God moves. I am confident of 2 things: God will move and Adalberto will let us know how !

I very much enjoyed the children, several of whom are particularly dear to me. I enjoyed ministering to them, but I think my favorite part is ministering with them. I especially enjoyed having my daughters join the Mexican girls in ministering TOGETHER to the church through liturgical dance. That was a lot of fun! Virginia started teaching us how to use the tamborines, and I plan to buy the DVDs.

This is our third mission trip to Mexico as a family, and by far the easiest for us. I would like to do my part in connecting other missions oriented families with your organization. I say it was easiest in these ways: Not terribly far (we could drive), not terribly expensive, and well organized . I have found that there is much interest on the part of families, but there are barriers (cost, distance, how to get organized). Caring Hearts had the least barriers. - Marietta Renne

Last night Pastors Manuel and Jose Luis baptized 8 young people during our Thursday service. God is moving throughout the church and young people are coming to know the Lord. We give thanks to God for the power of His Holy Spirit to convince people of what Jesus has done for them.

THE RENE FAMILY

We have been blessed this week with the presence of the Rene Family from Columbus Ohio. They have been helping by painting, visiting shut ins, spending time with the kids, and teaching liturgical dance. They found out about us through our website. They were planning their vacation in the desert southwest, and wanted to include a week of missions. They are a testimony of what a family vacation can be if it is spent serving the Lord. A WORD FROM PASTOR GARY

“I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.”

II Timothy 1:5

These are words that Apostle Paul wrote to a young pastor named Timothy. Timothy accompanied him on mission trips, planted churches and was the first Bishop of Ephesus. It seems that Paul had known him since he was a boy and that he was blessed to have Godly parents who taught him the Bible. Were you that fortunate?

My Grandma Simpson came to live with us for a few weeks when I was about 8 years old. She had severe rheumatoid arthritis and had been in a wheel chair for more than 30 years. She wasn’t able to go to church, but she read her Bible every day and preached to anyone who would listen. She had me memorize the names of the first 5 books of the Bible and although she moved back to my Aunt’s house and I didn’t really understand salvation she was instrumental in my coming to the Lord several years after she died.

The things I learned when my parents took me to the Episcopal Church were also stepping stones in my spiritual journey. I was fortunate to have those experiences. The kids at Bethel and Oasis don’t have that heritage. Most come from broken, dysfunctional and abusive homes. The only Godly Grandparents and parents they will ever know are the volunteers who go down there, hold them, love them and teach them by word and example what it means to be a Christian. When you ladies do that you become the children’s “Lois” or “Eunice” and you men are like Paul; a spiritual father to sons and daughters in the Lord.

All of you who are unable to go but who pray and donate to Caring Hearts are a part of the spiritual heritage of a Mexican girl or boy. Thank you for investing in these precious little ones. You will never know in this life how great an impact you had on so many.
